Is Anglican Care insurance?

No. Anglican Care is a health care sharing ministry, not an insurance company. Members contribute monthly toward each other’s medical needs as a community of believers. There is no contract, no guarantee of payment, and no insurance license involved. This distinction is important — both legally and practically. We are transparent about this with every family.

Does our church take on any liability by sharing this information?

No. Sharing information about a health care sharing ministry is no different from recommending a food bank, a counseling service, or a financial literacy program. Your church is not endorsing, guaranteeing, or selling anything. You’re simply letting families know a resource exists. We recommend including a brief disclaimer (which we provide in our materials) such as: “Anglican Care is a health care sharing ministry, not insurance. Sharing is not guaranteed.”

Is this biblically sound?

Health care sharing is rooted in the biblical principle of bearing one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2) and the early church’s practice of sharing resources among believers (Acts 2:44-45, Acts 4:32). Members sign a statement of faith, agree to live by biblical principles, and contribute voluntarily to help fellow Christians in need. Many pastors see it as a practical expression of the one-another commands in the New Testament.

How much could families in our congregation actually save?

Typically 40-60% compared to traditional insurance for comparable coverage. A family of four on our Essential program might pay around $297/month, compared to $1,200-$1,800/month for a traditional insurance plan. An individual under 30 can join for as little as $79/month. What happens if someone has a pre-existing condition?

Pre-existing conditions are handled differently than traditional insurance. In most cases, there is a waiting period (typically 12-24 months) before a pre-existing condition becomes eligible for sharing. During that time, members can still access sharing for new, unrelated medical needs. We’re upfront about this — no family should join without understanding how pre-existing conditions work. Our team walks every family through this before they enroll.

Can members see their own doctors?

Yes. There are no networks. Members see any doctor, visit any hospital, and use any pharmacy. Because many members pay cash for services (and submit bills for sharing), they often negotiate significantly lower rates than insurance would pay. This freedom is one of the most appreciated features of health care sharing.

What’s the catch? Why is it so much cheaper?

There’s no catch — just a fundamentally different model. Insurance companies must pay profits to shareholders, maintain reserves, comply with ACA mandates, and cover administrative overhead. Health care sharing ministries don’t have shareholders, aren’t subject to the same regulatory costs, and operate as nonprofit ministries. Members also tend to be healthier (the faith community skews toward people who value wellness), which keeps costs lower. The savings are real and sustainable.

What if a medical need isn’t shared?

Health care sharing is not a guarantee — this is stated clearly in our guidelines. However, in practice, the vast majority of eligible needs are fully shared. Our guidelines define what is and isn’t eligible (for example, elective procedures and some pre-existing conditions may not be eligible initially). We work closely with members to help them understand the guidelines before they join and to navigate the sharing process after. Transparency is a core value of our ministry.

Is this available in our state?

Anglican Care operates in most states. Some states have specific regulations that affect how health care sharing ministries can operate. If you’re unsure whether we serve your state, contact us and we’ll let you know right away. We’re constantly monitoring state legislation and expanding our reach.

How do we get started?

Start small. Request a few brochures for your welcome table. Mention it briefly in a Sunday announcement. Or simply point one struggling family to our website. You don’t need to launch a program or make a big push — just share the resource. Families who are interested will reach out to us directly, and we’ll take it from there. Can someone from Anglican Care visit our church?

Yes. We’re happy to arrange a brief presentation — 5 minutes during a service, 20 minutes at a small group, or a longer Q&A session with your leadership team. Does Anglican Care require anything from our church?

No. We don’t ask churches to sign anything, endorse us formally, or commit to ongoing promotion. We simply provide resources and let you share them as you see fit. There is no membership requirement for the church, no financial relationship, and no obligation of any kind. We’re a resource — use us as much or as little as makes sense for your community.
