How Health Care Sharing Works

A plain-language guide for pastors and church leaders.

The Simple Version

Instead of paying premiums to an insurance company, members of our ministry contribute a monthly amount toward a community sharing pool. When a member has a medical need, that need is shared — covered — by the contributions of the community.

Think of it like a barn raising. A family can’t build a barn alone, but the community working together can build it in a day. Health care sharing works the same way — the burden of medical costs is carried together, not alone.

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.”

HEBREWS 10:24-25

Step by Step: A Member’s Journey

What happens when a family in your congregation joins Anglican Care.
1

They Sign Up & Choose a Program

A family visits our website or calls us. We help them choose the right program tier (Foundational, Essential, or Complete) based on their needs and budget. They sign a statement of faith and agree to our sharing guidelines.

2

They Contribute Monthly

Each month, the family contributes a set amount — starting at $79/month for an individual or $99/month for a family on our Essential program. This is not a premium; it’s a share toward the community’s medical needs.

3

They See Any Doctor

There are no networks. Members see the doctors they trust at the facilities they prefer. They negotiate cash-pay rates where possible (often far lower than insurance rates) and submit their medical bills to us for sharing.

4

We Share the Need

The family submits their medical bills. We review them against our sharing guidelines and share the eligible amount from the community’s contributions. The family receives the funds and pays their provider.

5

We Pray & Support

Every shared need is accompanied by prayer and personal support. Our team prays with and for our members. That’s not a tagline — it’s who we are as a ministry.

What It Is — and What It Isn’t

Clarity matters. Here’s the honest truth for you and your congregation.

✓ What It Is

  • ✓ A community of Christians sharing medical costs
  • ✓ A faith-based alternative to traditional insurance
  • ✓ Significantly lower monthly costs
  • ✓ Freedom to choose any doctor or hospital
  • ✓ Prayer and spiritual support alongside practical help
  • ✓ A 20+ year established, nationally recognized ministry

✗ What It Isn’t

  • ✗ An insurance product
  • ✗ A guarantee that all needs will be shared
  • ✗ A replacement for Medicare or Medicaid
  • ✗ A contractual right to payment
  • ✗ A licensed insurance company
  • ✗ A plan that covers pre-existing conditions immediately

We believe in being honest with families. Health care sharing is a powerful, affordable alternative — but it works differently from insurance, and families should understand those differences before joining. That’s why we’re here to answer questions, not just sign people up.
