About Health Care Sharing

What is a Health Care Sharing Ministry (HCSM)?

A Health Care Sharing Ministry is a faith-based, non-profit organization where members voluntarily share the cost of each other’s medical expenses. Rather than paying premiums to an insurance company, members contribute a monthly “share” that helps fellow members with eligible medical needs. HCSMs are recognized under federal law and have operated in the United States for decades.

Is Anglican Care insurance?

No. Anglican Care is not insurance. It is a voluntary community of faith-based members who choose to share medical expenses. Sharing is not guaranteed and there is no contract of insurance. This distinction is important — it means fewer restrictions, no networks, and lower costs, but also that sharing depends on the community’s contributions.

How is health care sharing different from traditional insurance?

Key differences include: no network restrictions (see any doctor), no annual rate hikes, lower monthly costs (starting at $79/mo for individuals), no enrollment windows (join anytime), and a faith-based community approach. However, sharing is voluntary and not guaranteed, unlike insurance which is a contractual guarantee.

Will my pre-existing condition be covered?

Pre-existing conditions are eligible for sharing after 12 months of continuous membership. During the first 12 months, pre-existing conditions are not eligible for sharing. After 12 months, they become eligible according to our Sharing Guidelines. Anglican Care does not deny membership based on medical history.

Membership & Enrollment

How do I enroll in Anglican Care?

You can enroll directly through our secure enrollment portal, or work with one of our brokers who can guide you through the process. Enrollment takes about 15–20 minutes and requires personal information, program selection, payment method, and agreement to our Statement of Faith.

Can I enroll at any time?

Yes! Unlike traditional insurance with limited open enrollment periods, you can join Anglican Care at any time. Your membership begins on your selected start date.

What states is Anglican Care available in?

We currently operate in 24 states with safe harbor provisions for HCSMs: AL, AZ, AR, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MS, MO, NE, NV, NH, OK, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WV, and WY. In Tier 2 states (FL, PA, MA, MT), members can enroll directly but broker activity is restricted. Contact us if your state isn’t listed.

Do I need to be a Christian to join?

Yes. Anglican Care is a faith-based ministry and members are asked to agree with our Statement of Faith. Members should also regularly attend a church or faith community. This shared faith is what brings our community together.

Can I keep my current doctor?

Yes! One of the biggest advantages of health care sharing is freedom of choice. There are no network restrictions — you can see any doctor and visit any hospital, anywhere in the United States.

Costs & Sharing

How much does Anglican Care cost per month?

Monthly contributions are age-banded and start at $79/mo (Foundational, individual under 30) up to $799/mo (Complete, family 50-64). Senior Care starts at $89/mo. Use our price calculator for an estimate based on your age, household, and preferred tier.

What is the Member Responsibility Amount (MRA)?

The MRA is the amount you pay out-of-pocket before sharing begins, similar to a deductible. Foundational has a $5,000 MRA, Essential has $2,500, and Complete has $1,000. Senior Care has a $500 MRA. Once your MRA is met for a medical incident, the community shares the remaining eligible expenses up to your sharing limit.

What are the sharing limits?

Each tier has a per-incident sharing limit: Foundational $250,000, Essential $500,000, Complete $1,000,000, and Senior Care $250,000. You can add the Catastrophic Support Add-On to extend your limit by an additional $1,000,000 per incident.

What medical expenses are eligible for sharing?

Eligible expenses include doctor and specialist visits, hospital stays, surgeries, emergency room visits, lab work, diagnostic imaging, and prescriptions (up to $5,000 per incident). Maternity sharing is eligible after 12 months of continuous membership. See our Sharing Guidelines for full details.

Are there any discounts available?

Yes! We offer: ACH Auto-Pay (3% off), Annual Payment (1 month free, ~8.3% savings), Health Incentive (up to 5% off for completing wellness visit), Ministry Referral ($100 credit), and Group Enrollment savings (up to 30% vs individual).

Is the monthly contribution tax-deductible?

Health care sharing contributions are not considered insurance premiums and are typically not tax-deductible as medical expenses. However, you should consult a tax professional for advice specific to your situation.

Brokers

How do I become an Anglican Care broker?

Sign up through our broker registration page. You’ll get a unique broker code and access to the BrokerConnect portal where you can generate enrollment links, track members, and view commission reports.

What are the broker commission rates?

Brokers earn 30% recurring monthly commission on every enrolled member’s monthly contribution. When you reach 10+ active members, your commission bumps to 35% recurring — applied to your entire roster. Commissions are paid monthly within 15 days of month-end via generated reports.

Can brokers operate in all states?

Brokers can actively enroll members in our 24 Tier 1 safe harbor states. In Tier 2 states (FL, PA, MA, MT), members can enroll directly but brokers are restricted to referral-only due to state regulations. Brokers may not operate in Tier 3 (hostile) states.
