How Health Care Sharing Works

Simple in concept, profound in practice. Members contribute monthly, and when a medical need arises, the community shares it together.

The Five-Step Process

From your first contribution to your need being shared — here’s how it works.

Step 1 — Members make monthly contributions to Anglican Care
1

You Make Monthly Contributions

Each month, you contribute a voluntary amount based on your program level. This goes into the sharing pool.

Step 2 — Members visit any licensed provider for care
2

You Receive Medical Care

Visit any licensed provider. There is no restricted network. Negotiate cash-pay rates when possible.

Step 3 — Members submit medical needs for sharing
3

You Submit Your Need

Submit your medical bill within 90 days of service with the required documentation. We acknowledge receipt within 5 business days.

Step 4 — Anglican Care reviews and shares the need
4

We Review & Share

We review your submission against the Sharing Guidelines and make a determination within 60 days of receiving all documentation.

Step 5 — The community shares the medical need together
5

Your Need Is Shared

Eligible amounts are shared from the contributions of fellow Members, less your Member Responsibility Amount (MRA).

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.” — Hebrews 10:24

Provider Freedom

See any licensed provider. No restricted network. No referrals needed.

Members may seek care from any licensed medical provider. The Ministry does not maintain a restricted provider network. Members are encouraged to negotiate cash-pay rates with providers when possible.

All providers must be properly licensed in the jurisdiction where services are rendered. Services from unlicensed providers are not eligible for sharing.

Members are strongly encouraged to use facilities and providers that offer transparent pricing. The Ministry may provide guidance on cost-effective providers upon request.

In cases where a Member has existing health coverage (e.g., Medicare, employer plans), the Ministry shall share only the remaining balance after such coverage has been applied.

Telemedicine and virtual care services from licensed providers are eligible for sharing on the same basis as in-person visits.

How to Submit a Medical Need

Submitting a medical need for sharing is a straightforward process.

  1. Receive medical care from any licensed provider. You are free to choose your own doctors, hospitals, and facilities.
  2. Request an itemized bill from your provider. Ensure it includes diagnosis codes and a description of services rendered.
  3. Log in to your Member Portal at anglicancare.org and go to the Medical Needs / Claims tab.
  4. Submit your need within 90 days of the date of service. Complete the online claim form and upload the itemized bill and any Explanation of Benefits from other coverage.
  5. We acknowledge receipt within 5 business days and make a determination within 60 days of receiving all documentation.

Submit your medical needs via:

  • Online (Preferred): Log in to your Member Portal and submit your claim directly under the Medical Needs / Claims tab.
  • Email: needs@anglicancare.org for questions or assistance
  • Mail: Anglican Care, Attn: Medical Need Processing

If your need is approved, sharing will be coordinated according to your program level and the Sharing Guidelines. If your need is denied, you will receive a written explanation and may appeal the decision.
